Irregularities Plague Ezequiel Montes Administration

The new administration of the municipality of Ezequiel Montes, led by Mayor Iván Reséndiz Ramírez, has exposed a series of irregularities following the completion of the handover process. Some employees have requested to be rehired, while others have not shown up.

Regarding the municipal DIF, Reséndiz Ramírez indicated that compensation and liquidation payments totaling 735,600 pesos were approved to 8 officials, an amount that exceeds what is legally allowed. Therefore, efforts are underway to recover the excess paid. During the current year, the municipality operated without the procurement committee, generating over 600 requisitions without justification, resulting in payments without proof of services rendered.

In the area of public works, four projects without performance guarantees were found, totaling more than 2 million 24 thousand pesos. Additionally, works and services that exceed the constitutional period were detected, and projects from FAISMUN and FAFEF were awarded without meeting legal requirements, amounting to over 6 million pesos.

Regarding public safety, it was revealed that the 8 new patrol vehicles acquired in September do not function, with a total value of 500 million 760 thousand pesos. The cancellation of the contract will be requested. Fake permits were also found in the Urban Development and Ecology Directorate, and in municipal public services, 700 service orders were detected without justification in the use of materials and supplies.

Possible cases of "ghost workers" and other irregularities have been detected, which may have caused harm to the public treasury estimated between 12 and 14 million pesos. Processes have been initiated before the Internal Control Body and, if necessary, before other competent authorities to clarify the inconsistencies found in various areas.

There were mentions of records of drug seizures and illegal substances in the Municipal Civic Court, but there is no documentation regarding the destination of these materials. The municipality's operation is not at risk, but a 13.6% increase for the 2025 budget will be sought in order to meet previous commitments and new projects, thus reaching a total budget of 360 million pesos.

In summary, the new administration has pointed out a series of irregularities ranging from excessive payments and works without guarantees to failed acquisitions in various municipal areas. Additionally, efforts are being made to clarify possible resource misappropriations and improve management to fulfill the commitments of the municipality of Ezequiel Montes.
